Always searching for innovative projects, Fahey et associés has designed a development that is one of its kind in Quebec and Canada. Le Quartier DIX30, located in Brossard, represents a Lifestyle type of commercial development. It offers a friendly commercial environment structured around human-scale streets and public squares used for holding festive events. Le Quartier DIX30 includes a variety of stores, including big box retailers, and caters to a diverse clientele. The design also promotes a performance component with its L’étoile Banque Nationale theater which is on the cutting edge of technology.
The exterior spaces at Le Quartier Dix30 have different forms: from fountains to public squares and rest areas. Fahey et associés managed to create a site design that ensures user comfort, ambiance and which effectively structures the different activities that take place within this unique commercial centre.
Fahey et associés was mandated by North American Development Inc. in order to design the site plan and landscape architecture for the Carrefour de la Rive-Sud commercial centre in Boucherville.
This commercial centre, located on more than 70 acres of land, includes retailers such as IKEA, Winners, Bureau en Gros, Future Shop, Super C and many others retail banners. Fahey et associés participated from the beginning stages of the development of the centre including the drafting of site plans, parking areas and circulation axes. Following the approval by the client of the general concept plan, we prepared more detailed plans for the entire site and created the landscape architecture design throughout the property.
The project was awarded the Aimé Racicot Award of Excellence by the Association des Gens d’Affaires de Boucherville in 2004, highlighting the quality of the site layout and the innovative design of the property.
Fahey et associés was mandated to elaborate a master plan for this commercial project, located in Dartmouth, near the City of Halifax in Nova Scotia, as well as the detail building plans, parking areas and the landscape architecture plans.
This 250 acre property was a former quarry and this project involved the rehabilitation of this site for commercial purposes.
For this development, we were implicated right from the beginning planning stages. We planned the layout of the streets, the primary circulation axes and the location of the buildings and parking areas. The design of the commercial centre is divided into three zones: large surface area commercial retailers, a « lifestyle » zone and a commercial services zone. The “Lifestyle” sector is by far the area where the landscape architecture component is the most important including pedestrian areas, the design of the surface materials (paving stones, etc.), urban furniture, public squares, sculptural elements and landscaping features.
We were also mandated to coordinate with the various engineers and architects in order to ensure a fluid circulation of information between the consultants.
Fahey et associés was mandated by 20Vic in order to design the site plan and landscape architecture for the Quartier Laval commercial centre.
This grouping of medium to large-scale commercial buildings includes a grocery store, various retailers, and a number of restaurant establishments. The project has a distinct human-scale architectural style that ensures an enjoyable experience for the users as they walk through the pedestrian spaces.
This "Lifestyle" type project has a contemporary design and offers its users a stimulating environment that brings together the landscaping, urban furniture and café patios. The pedestrian axis leads to an oval shaped public space. This unusual shape, which resulted from overcoming a large site constraint – an underground parking structure that is not completely underground - has in itself become an attraction on the site. The one-way traffic around this public space ensures the safe cohabitation of pedestrians and cars.
